I must say, this is the most fun you can have baking without having to turn on the oven!

It all started several years ago when I was planning a bridal shower and wanted a really special gift. What to do? I didn’t want to just go buy something so I started looking around the internet for ideas, and found several pictures of cakes made out of bath towel sets! How interesting! Then I thought about it and said, well, why can’t I do that!

Although it took me several tries, and a lot of towel rolling to get the right look, I finally mastered the art. At least, it looked like a three layer cake! Then I had to decorate it….which was actually the easy part. By the time I’d finished, I was rather pleased with the creation, and was even more pleased when all of the shower guests, including the guest of honor, asked me where I’d gotten such a unique gift, which I’d used as the centerpiece for the table. So, I had a new hobby.

Then a friend and I were hosting a baby shower, so of course, I looked around again and saw diaper cakes. After several cakes, each made with a bit of a different style of diapering, I finally found the combination I liked, and well, that was it!

And then cupcakes became really popular, so of course I had to do diaper and washcloth cupcakes…..well, you get the point!
